The 2017 Competition for the African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALT) Scholarship Program is now open. The Deadline to complete the Initial Questionnaire is October 14, 2016. Individuals who are asked to apply will have until November 2nd, 2016, at 23:00 GMT to submit their documents through the online application platform.

Funded by Global Affairs Canada and The MasterCard Foundation, the ALT Scholarship Program commemorates the late Nelson Mandela’s commitment to social justice and equity by offering young African women and men the opportunity to study in a Master’s degree program in public administration, public policy or public finance at a Canadian university.

Eligibility criteria:

  • be a citizen and a resident from sub-Saharan Africa;
  • be between 22-35 years old;
  • have two to five years of full-time work experience in the public sector, civil society or research institution/academia in Africa;
  • have completed an undergraduate degree (equivalent to 4 years of university) with a minimum average of B (75%);
  • be fluent in either English or French; and
  • meet the academic requirements of the study program of choice.
